Business, Humanities and Enterprise

The 'green’ team (which has about 200 years of teaching experience between them) has really enjoyed the start of Corby Business Academy. We have some fabulous facilities: two dedicated ICT suites in addition to the 25 computers in the shared central area, a great double sized classroom for team teaching, and a further nine teaching rooms.
As the specialism of the Business Academy all year groups will experience the business and enterprise aspects of the curriculum.
Traditionally Business Studies, and linked subjects, are taught at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, but Year 7 and 8 are already learning about Business. Enterprise skills are embedded in lessons across the Academy.
We also have some great integrated humanities themes planned for Year 7 and 8 students, the first of which is ‘Vote for It’. The students have learned how to campaign to be potential representatives on the Academy Senate, and how to conduct a fair voting system.
Year 9 students have broken with tradition by starting examination courses early and are already impressing staff with their willingness to learn.
Other subjects taught in our faculty include: Travel, Public Service, Ethics, History and Sociology.
