Sixth Form

We have been pleased to welcome all the Sixth Form students who have joined us both from Corby Community College and other schools. We have an exciting time ahead as students are adapting to their new role as the lead ambassadors for the Academy.
Our courses this year are: A levels in English Literature, Sport, Mathematics, and Information Technology.
As a Business Academy, the Business Humanities and Enterprise faculty is developing the Academy specialism with a number of business courses.
A level Travel and Tourism and Business as well as BTEC National in Business. For those students who did not gain five GCSE’s including English, there is a Level 2 suite of courses based on Business, GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics.
Our Sixth Form Induction Day saw INSPIRE, a educational motivation company, working with our students to raise their aspirations. Our enrichment programme will see the students working with local business on extended projects; other Sixth Form activities have already seen a number of students supporting younger students throughout the day and after school. There will be opportunities to gain the Sports Leadership Award, the basic food hygiene certificate and first aid qualifications, all of which will help students to develop as individuals.
We are looking forward to further developing the Sixth Form curriculum, working with students over the coming year and laying the foundations for our first set of Sixth Form examination results.
Enrichment Opportunities
Working hard at Post 16 level is vital if students want to achieve good grades. However, all work and no play can make life very stressful which is why we encourage students to get involved in a wide range of activities beyond their main course of study.
We have such a strong belief in enriching students, that we have moulded our tutorial programme to allow students to experience a wide range of non-academic activities. These activities will vary from year to year but will be based around the Citizenship AQA AS course.
One of the modules is based on volunteering and students will all take part in a voluntary activity from junior sports leadership qualifications to hydro therapy training and helping the DSP students in the pool.
