Students make better progress emotionally and intellectually when they are cared for as individuals. The Academy's approach to managing student behaviour begins from this single premise which is fundamental to its ethos.
A climate of good student behaviour begins with the provision of an appropriate and relevant curriculum for each individual and clear expectations of conduct in lessons and around the Academy. The curriculum at Corby Business Academy is varied and accessible at a number of levels, ensuring that all students are able to pursue learning pathways that are appropriate to their abilities and interests.
Every student behaves in a manner that is strongly influenced by the expectations of others, especially their peers and their teachers. Where expectations of conduct and commitment to study are manifest, unequivocal and consistently high, then behaviour, discipline and respect for others are inevitably better than where these elements are lacking or dilute.
Such expectations are communicated in a variety of ways, including appearance. Students will wear a smart school uniform and in the sixth form formal office dress is required at all times. Similarly, all staff working at the Academy will continually communicate the high expectations of the institution through their own appearance, behaviour and treatment of others.
Full details of the Behaviour Code of Conduct will be published in the prospectus and as part of the Academy's Home School Agreement.
