Sixth Form Studies

In the first year of the Academy, sixth form entry will be largely limited to existing Corby Community College students for whom an appropriate course of study is available. Once it is full, the sixth form at Corby Business Academy will cater for 125 students each year and have a total roll number of 250.

The Curriculum

The curriculum will develop to offer a full range of subject choices tailored to meet the needs and interests of the Academy's students, including those with profound, severe or multiple learning difficulties. In 2008 we intend to offer a range of qualifications similar to that of Corby Community College which will include Level 3 qualifications in business-related subjects, ICT, English, Mathematics, Travel and Tourism and Sociology. Some Level 2 qualifications will also be offered along with a range of courses for adult learners and those whose first language is not English. Full details of the sixth form curriculum will be published in Spring 2008. We anticipate that the sixth form curriculum will expand quickly with more courses available for students starting in 2009.

In addition to examined courses, the sixth form programme at Corby Business Academy will provide excellent opportunities for self-development and personal growth through projects and activities linked directly to local community and the world of employment.
