Library Catalogue is now available online

Students and staff can now access our extensive Library Catalogue for themselves for the first time.

The catalogue is available through the Academy’s website and offers staff and students access to a range of exciting resources.

Librarian Amy McKay said: “This system is the best of what is available to school libraries.

“It gives staff and students the opportunity to search the Library’s resources and even tells them where the resources can be found in the Library.

“They can find out when their books are due back in, remind themselves of the details of books they may have borrowed years earlier and reserve books.

“It includes a list of curriculum verified web links which have been approved by educators for use in school work.

“There are further reading lists so if someone has enjoyed a book they can receive a recommendation for what they could read next.

“Students can write and upload book reviews and watch author videos and book trailers.

“It will also include our own news section, information about the Book of the Week and there will be competitions to encourage students to use the catalogue.”

In addition there is an app for the Library Catalogue that students can upload to their smart phones or iPads.

Miss McKay added: “With the app students can be out shopping for books and at the same time check whether the Library has the titles they’re interested in.

“If we do have the books they can reserve them and if we don’t they can send us an email to suggest the Library buys them.”

The catalogue can be accessed via the Student Info section of the Academy’s website or by clicking here
