Students improve their language skills through penpal scheme

Our young linguists have been busy exchanging letters with foreign penpals.

Our young linguists have been busy exchanging letters with foreign penpals.

Year 7 students have written letters in French and Spanish to students at Écoles du Bon Sauveur in Saint Lô, France, CEIP Gabriel Miró in Calpe, Spain, and Colegio Vicent Durbà in Gaianes, Spain.

So far they have received letters and Christmas cards and they will soon send a class picture of themselves to their penpals’ teachers so their new friends can see what they look like.

Teacher Ana Martinez Ribeiro said: “The students have described themselves in their letters and talked about the things they do.

“They are very eager to tell them different things about themselves and as a result it is making them very keen to improve their vocabulary.

“This project is really helping the students to improve their language skills.”
