A group of students carried out a river study near Kettering as part of their Geography studies.

The Year 7, 8 and 9 students conducted the study at the Newton Field Centre to enhance their work on rivers.

The students examined the flow of the water along different points of the river and mapped the river bed.

Special Needs Teacher Janice Floodgate said: “The experience really brought the topic to life for the students.

“During the visit they were also given the opportunity to study creatures which had been found along the river which helped them to discover how clean and healthy the river was.”

The students also studied the land use along the sides of the river.
