Readers return from Big Book Quiz with medals

Our enthusiastic readers have returned from Northamptonshire's Big Book Quiz with three medals.

Our enthusiastic readers have returned from Northamptonshire's Big Book Quiz with three medals.

We entered three teams of four students from Years 7, 8 and 9 into the popular contest and they were challenged to answers complex questions on hundreds of books.

Three of our students, Joe Shirlaw, Sophie Malone and Matthew Croyden, received medals for winning three of the competition’s district rounds.

CBA Librarian Amy McKay said: “For the past six months the students have been reading hundreds of books on this year’s reading list for the competition.

“There are six rounds of questions and they are really hard so it’s brilliant that three of our students have come back with medals.

“This is a great competition because it makes the students mix with different year groups and read books outside their comfort zone.

“It also teaches them to retain what they have read and it is a celebration of the fact that reading is pleasurable.

“All our students performed very well and we are very proud of them.”

The competition was held at Sir Christopher Hatton School in Wellingborough.
