A group of our Sixth Formers visited the University of Birmingham to take part in a Psychology Masterclass.

Ten students from Years 12 and 13 went to the masterclass which focused on the topic Why Do We Eat What We Eat?

The topic is directly linked to the students’ A Level Psychology studies about eating behaviour.

CBA Psychology Teacher Felicity Cornish said: “We wanted to attend the masterclass because it is directly relevant to the A Level our students are studying.

“It gave them useful background information about the topic and it was good opportunity for them to experience working with experts in the field.

“Some of our students hope to study Psychology at university and the masterclass gave them an idea of what it would be like to study the subject at that level.”

The masterclass examined a number of questions including what makes us choose one food over another, why do we stop eating when we do and why do we eat when we are not hungry?

It also included a discussion about the experiments that are being conducted by scientists who are interested in finding out why we eat what we eat.
