Our oldest students took part in a range of lectures and activities to prepare them for life after CBA during our Sixth Form Curriculum Day.

The event featured guest speakers from the University of Nottingham, De Montfort University, Northampton University, Evolve and Timely Advice who talked about preparing for university and apprenticeships.

Managers from RS Components carried out speed interviews with our Year 12 students and representatives from Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service explained how students could stay safe when they leave home.

CBA Head of Sixth Form Samantha Anderson said: “We invited a range of universities to attend the event to talk to the students about preparing for university and different aspects of university life.

“The talks included information about student life and student finance.

“We also invited experts to talk to our students about apprenticeships, the police gave a talk about the Fatal 4 road safety campaign and the fire service spoke to students about how they could stay safe once they have left home.

“We were also pleased to welcome back managers from RS Components who ran mock interviews with our Year 12 students and then gave them very detailed feedback about their performance.

“They were very impressed with our students and said that if they had been real interviews there were a number of students who would have been offered a job.

“This event will help to prepare the Sixth Formers for their next steps in life.”

Adrian Mole, who was one of the interviewers from RS Components, said: “I was very impressed with all the candidates.

“The level at which all the students conducted themselves was a credit to themselves and also the Academy.”

We also ran sessions on interview skills and study skills.
