Textiles students upcycle old clothes

Year 9 students have taken part in an exciting upcycling project during their Textiles lessons.

The students were challenged to transform a piece of old clothing into something new.

CBA Lead Teacher in Design Technology Abbie Parsons said: “The students could choose whether they wanted to turn the old clothes into new clothing or into something else entirely.

"Two old shirts were turned into an apron, old band and logo t-shirts were turned into a blanket and an old tie dye t-shirt was transformed into a rug.

“One old dress was turned into a top and a new dress for which the student made the skirt part from scratch herself.

“The students demonstrated excellent skills and really challenged themselves.”
