A group of Key Stage 4 students from Corby Business Academy have recently taken part in the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge.

The problem solving competition aimed towards the very brightest young mathmeticians, saw students ranging from Year 9 to 11 complete 25 multiple-choice questions in one hour sat under examination conditions.

STEAM co-ordinator Mr Joshua Walsh said ‘The fact that we have been able to forward as many as 44 students is a credit to the amount of talent we have in the mathematics department at the Academy.

‘It is something that myself and all the staff are very proud of, especially as this follows on from the Senior Maths Challenge that our sixth Form students have recently taken part in. Both of which will no-doubt inspire Key Stage 3 students in preparation for their Junior Maths Challenge, which takes place later this year.’

The Academy now eagerly awaits the results of the challenge that will be published next month.
