Callum makes it through to boxing semi-finals

Year 9 student Callum competed in the semi-finals of the England Boxing Championships at Doncaster this weekend after successfully beating his opponent at the quarterfinals held earlier this month.

This is the second year in a row that Callum has made it through to the semi-finals of the competition. He said: ‘Everyone said how close it was between myself and the competitor. It is a little disappointing that I didn’t make it through to the finals but I am determined and hope to win next year.

‘I’ve been boxing for 7 years and took up the sport after watching it on the TV all the time when I was younger. My Dad saw how passionate I was about the sport and let me go along to classes.

‘I love the sport and train everyday. I am currently taking part in the trials for The Tri-Nations and where I could be up against the best boxers in Great Britain. I hope that one day I can take part in the Olympics.’
