The museum has selected CBA as one of two schools to take part in the high profile Build A Truce project after reading some of our students’ philosophical debates about war on the blog section of our social media site Radiowaves.

Between now and September students from the Gifted and Talented cohort will devise a concept for the film and then record and edit it to a professional standard.

The finished film will be shown at the Imperial War Museums in London and Manchester alongside a film on the same subject that will have been made by the museum’s own staff team.

Teacher Claire Howsam who runs the Radiowaves project said: “This is just a huge honour for the Academy and the students involved.

“We were approached after our debates were spotted by the museum’s staff – which just shows how successful our Radiowaves site has become.

“This will be an incredible project to work on and will give students new skills and a real insight into how a museum works and how exhibits are put together.”

Next week the students will open the project up to other students by posting a debate question on the Radiowaves main website – which is used by 3,000 schools worldwide.

They will also make a visit to the Imperial War Museum in London and meet with staff for advice.

Collaborating with the students will be the Imperial War Museum’s Project Coordinator Catherine Roberts and Lucy Neale, Project Director at Digital Me – a not-for-profit organisation that helps bring technology and social media to schools.

Students involved in the project are:  Matthew Hannah, Steven Moore, Kyla Bite, Alex Lawless, Eryn Lee Church, Kyle English, Amy Moore, Jacob Cleary, Matthew Ford, Emily Russell and Shona Duncan.
