Award-winning local illustrator Jim Kay visited CBA to give a talk to students.

Mr Kay, who lives in Kettering, met students from Corby Book Addicts and answered their questions in the school’s library at the end of last term.

Mr Kay won the Greenaway Medal in June for his illustration of ‘A Monster Calls’ by Patrick Ness, which itself won the Carnegie Medal. It was the first time in the 56 year history of the CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Children's Book Awards that the same book won the Carnegie Medal and the Kate Greenaway Medal.

The students first met Mr Kay at the final of the awards at The Barbican in London. At the event Year 8 student Lauren Pulley invited him to come in to do a talk.

Librarian Amy McKay said: “The students really enjoyed the talk from the illustrator. It was nice for them to meet someone of such high calibre.

“He told them about his plans in the pipeline to turn the book into a film.”
