Students Andreas Milan and Jessica Dick took part in special maths masterclasses at the two Universities during the summer.

Year 11 student Jessica and Andreas, who is in Year 10, went to sessions at Nottingham and Loughborough Universities.

Andreas said: “We did about cryptography matrix coding, and at the second one we did a lesson about numbers and tricks of the trade.

“I learnt many things, it was definitely worth going. I would definitely do it again.”

Jessica said: “I quite enjoyed it. I went on a tour at Loughborough – there was study rooms and a big theatre.”

Jessica also spent time at the University of York during the summer. She spent three days on campus taking chemistry classes as part of the prestigious Salters Institute residential programme.
