Literary blind date over half term

Around 80 students and members of staff will be going on a blind date with a new book picked out especially for them by library staff to read over half term.

To mark Valentine’s Day and to encourage reading, Amy McKay and Christina Mangin in the CBA library invited students and staff to sign up to receive a book chosen just for them.

Amy and Christina looked through readers’ borrowing histories and their literary likes and dislikes to help them choose a book they thought each person would enjoy.

The books were wrapped and have nearly all been collected from the library ahead of the end of term.

Every person who completes their book and returns to the library at the start of next term to prove they have read it will receive a giant tube of Lovehearts.

Amy said: “It’s been really well received. We have really tried to tailor the books to each person.”
