Students can sign up now to take part in this year’s CBA chess championship.

Players will compete to be named our next chess champion over six weeks of matches.

Our reigning chess champion is Year 9 student Owen Robinson.

The annual championship will take place during Session 4 on Wednesdays and will run in Swiss-style rounds, meaning players will play in every round and will always have an opponent.

The competition will run on a points system, with players earning points for wins.

The overall chess champion will be the player who accumulates the most points over the six weeks.

Librarian Amy McKay said: “There will be a trophy for the chess champion and there will also be runner-up prizes.”

Anyone who wants to take part can sign up in the library now.

The championship will begin on Wednesday 13th March.
