Kind-hearted students and staff have raised more than £1,500 for Children in Need.

The Academy held a day of fundraising activities at the end of last term in aid of the children’s charity.

Students were invited to make a donation in order to come to school in non-uniform and to have their pictures taken in a photo booth alongside an elf and there was a raffle with fantastic prizes.

Charity committee chair Ellie Mae Moore said: “The end of year fundraising day was a great success.

“It was great to see everyone getting involved for such a good cause and enjoying themselves at the same time.

“I would like to thank all the staff and students for their support and the members of the Charity Committee for all their hard work.”

Many of the raffle prizes were donated by local businesses, including Rockingham Speedway, New York Thunder-bowl, local photographers, beauty salons and Lazer Quest.

All the winners have been informed by email.
