Reading Bingo is proving popular

The competition is hotting up in the Academy’s Reading Bingo contest.
Students can read any book they want for the competition but they must find ones that match up with the different topics in the 16 squares on the bingo card to cross off the squares.
The topics include a book recommended by a friend, a book set in the past, a book about family and a book with a one-word title.
Librarian Amy McKay, who devised the competition, said: “We’ve had a really good response to the competition.
“It encourages the students to read beyond their normal boundaries and it’s developing their debating skills because sometimes they have to put forward an argument as to why their book fits a particular category.”
Students must fill in the name of the relevant book and the date they finished reading it at the bottom of each square.
Among those taking part are Year 10 student Lewis Cross and Year 8 students Ellie Fox-Ricketts and Nadine Beale (pictured).
Ellie said: "I'm really enjoying taking part.
"I've read three books so far and I'm currently reading The Tragedy Paper by Elizabeth Laban.
"It's a fun game."
There will be small prizes for the winners.
