One of our Sixth Formers has been nominated for a prestigious award for his contribution to enterprise.

Year 13 Unit student Hagen Rawson, 18, is in the running for the Young Enterprise Sir John Moores’ Special Achievement Award 2014 for his work as Finance Director with our Young Enterprise company Happy Hands UK.

Hagen has been instrumental in promoting and selling a range of the company’s products, including chalkboards, teacup pincushions and teacup candles, at a number of trade fairs.

Hagen said: “I was really surprised to have been nominated for the award and feel really good about it.

“I’ve enjoyed the Young Enterprise project. It’s made me feel more confident and I like talking to people and dealing with money.”

Hagen also participated in the company’s planning meetings and helped to produce the products to sell.

CBA LSA Debbie Buckland added: “Hagen has really grown in confidence and is very good at selling and promoting Happy Hands UK’s products.

“He gets on really well with customers and is very good when it comes to dealing with the money side of things.

“I think Hagen really deserves this award.”

Hagen also completed his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award last year and is now working towards his silver award.
