An enterprising Sixth Former has received a prestigious regional award.

Year 13 student Hagen Rawson, 18, has won the Young Enterprise Sir John Moores Special Achievement Award 2014 for his work as the Finance Director of our Young Enterprise company Happy Hands UK.

The award is made in each English region every year to the student who has made the most progress through their participation in the Young Enterprise programme.

Hagen has been instrumental in promoting and selling a range of Happy Hands UK’s products, including chalkboards, teacup pincushions and teacup candles, at a number of trade fairs.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed working with Happy Hands UK. It was nice to meet new people and the experience has given me more confidence.

“I’m really excited about winning the award – I wasn’t expecting to win.

“My family are very proud of me.”

CBA teacher Nikki Clark nominated Hagen for the award.

She said: “Hagen has made progress in key areas this year. We are very proud of him.”

The award was set up in memory of Sir John Moores by his daughter, Lady Grantchester.

Hagen will receive a certificate and £100 following an award ceremony at the University of Nottingham’s Business School on Tuesday 10th June.
