Dear Parent / Carer
For the past three years we have entered and been highly successful at the Kettering and District Eisteddfod with the Senior Concert Band, Woodwind Ensemble and Senior Brass Ensemble. We have once again entered all three groups into the Eisteddfod which will be held at Kettering Salvation Army on Wednesday 14th March 2012.
This year we have also entered the Concert Band, Senior Woodwind Ensemble and Senior Brass Ensemble into the National Festival of Music for Youth. This is a Music Festival (Competition!) that takes place in regional heats before groups are invited to perform in the National Festival which takes place at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. The standard at this Festival is extremely high and is a compliment of the progress your Son / Daughter has made in a relatively short time.
The regional heats will be held at Northampton School for Boys on Sunday 18th March 2012 in the afternoon. We will arrange transport for both events in the form of a coach. Sunday 18th March 2012 is mothering Sunday and I know this poses a problem for some families. It would be absolutely fabulous if we could take a full band to Northampton. Perhaps you could enjoy mother’s day in Northampton by allowing your Son / Daughter to perform to you!
We will be performing a selection from the following: A Yorkshire Overture Ballad for Benny Celtic Ritual Fantasy on an Early American Marching Tune
Your Son / Daughter now has the music and I would be grateful if at some point you could support them by allowing practice at home.
