Year 9 students who helped a charity to win thousands of pounds had their achievement celebrated at a prestigious lunch in London.

Earlier this year our Year 9 students were divided into groups and had to make a presentation explaining to Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) judges why their chosen charity deserved to win £3,000.

Coral Devlin, Shannon Donaghey and Eryn EcIlvaney were part of the group of students which put forward a winning presentation for Macy’s Memory – a charity which supports families with terminally ill children.

Last week they were invited to attend the YPI Final Winners lunch at the Troxy in London.

Teacher Maxine Hopewell accompanied the students on the trip.

She said: “Our students met up with other winning groups of students from across the country and they had a great day.

“Our students’ behaviour was fantastic and they were great representatives of our Academy.”
