Deadlines on horizon for GCSE Design and Technology students

Our Design and Technology Year 11 GCSE students are busy working towards big deadlines at the end of this term.

Our Design and Technology Year 11 GCSE students are busy working towards big deadlines at the end of this term.

Our Food Technology, Resistant Materials and Textiles all have deadlines coming up for their coursework which they must hit to keep on track with their courses.

The Food Technology course is halfway through and students are now entering the development phase of their practical work where they take one of their dishes and develop the ingredients, flavourings, fillings and shapes in a series of practicals.

All their practical and written coursework has to be handed in on the final day of Term 2.

Director of Design Technology Cath Davis said: “It’s imperative that we finish the coursework by Christmas because the exam board releases the revision topics for the theory exam in January so that is what we will be concentrating on in the New Year.”

Textiles students are in the making phase of their garment or item project and that needs to be completed by the end of Term 2.

Resistant Materials students are currently in the making phase of their course. They are developing their product from their chosen theme and their practical and coursework also needs to be completed by the end of Term 2.

Students are reminded that Session 4 time is available for Food Technology on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, for Resistant Materials on Tuesdays and Thursdays and for Textiles on Wednesdays.
