A dedicated member of staff has become CBA’s first teacher to achieve Specialist Leader in Education status for Initial Teacher Training.

Claire Scott, who is a member of our Comms faculty and one of the Academy’s middle leaders, earned her new status by demonstrating she has the expertise and vision to help others in similar positions in other schools.

The role is only awarded to outstanding teachers and is used to raise standards and improve the quality of leadership through both school-to-school and peer-to-peer learning.

Mrs Scott said: “My motivation comes from desire and drive: the desire I have to see passion, enjoyment and success from all and the drive to share in the process of this being achieved.

“I have become passionate in ensuring that this becomes best practice for Initial Teacher Training and relish the opportunity to grow and develop this skill.

“By sharing our determination and enthusiasm with others we can support every teacher to become ‘outstanding’, whatever stage of their career they may be at.”

CBA Associate Principal Janet Duggan added: “We are very proud of Claire's achievement and all the work she does to support staff who are new to the teaching profession - she is an invaluable resource who adds to the quality of provision for students in the Academy.”

Specialist Leader in Education status is awarded by the Government’s Department of Education.
