Bestselling author Sara Barnard recently visited Corby Business Academy to talk to over 100 students from across the Brooke Weston Trust. She discussed her writing career and gave students tips to help them get their own stories published.

Head Librarian, Miss Amy McKay said ‘It went really well. The girls have all read her books and love them. Sara is only very young and I think this helped the students connect with her.’

Sara studied creative writing at UEA in Norfolk and developed her passion for writing from her dad who made sure she always had books to read from a young age.

Her first novel ‘Beautiful Broken Things’ was based on the love you have for your friends as a teenager. Miss McKay said ‘It is something very familiar that we can all relate to, she writes very authentic teen voices. The book topped all the charts and was chosen by Zoella for her book club.

‘Her latest book has only just been release so it was great that she could discuss both her books with students. It was lovely to see such an inspirational and well-known Young Adult author visit our Academy’
