Community Use Coordinator Takes Up Post

A new staff member has been appointed to look after the Academy’s first class sports facilities.

Howard Roberts started in his role earlier this term and will be in charge of all bookings for the Academy's business and leisure facilities.

Mr Roberts, who has been involved with sports all his life, having played rugby for Kibworth and currently holding the position of chairman of Desborough Cricket Club is looking forward to the demanding role.

He said: "We have excellent facilities here at the Academy and it is certainly one of the premier venues in the Corby and Weldon area.

"We already have had a good amount of interest from clubs and organizations, many of whom have been attracted by the top quality of the amenities.

"What we would like to attract now is a rugby club as we have a great rugby pitch available and the sports hall would be ideal for a local basketball club.

"If any clubs or organizations would like to have a look around the facilities they can contact me and make an appointment and I would be happy to show them around."

Clubs that currently use the Academy's facilities include Weldon United Football Team, Hellenic Fisher FC and Corby Netball Club.

The sporting facilities available are: a full sized astro-turf pitch; two full sized football/rugby pitches; four netball courts and six tennis courts and a large indoor sports hall.

Business facilities available include a modern furnished boardroom and annexe, a large 630 seat theatre and a smaller 99 seat theatre and the use of classrooms, which are equipped with interactive white boards and overhead projectors are also available for hire.

The facilities are available from 6pm to 9pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

An online booking system is available through the Academy website. To book click onto the community bookings tab on the left hand panel and then follow the instructions.

All prices are also included on the website.

The facilities can also be booked by calling the main reception on 01536 303120 or by emailing Mr Roberts on
