Our YE company receives second place in Best Logo competition

Our Young Enterprise company Happy Hands has been awarded second place in the 2018 National Team programme – Best Logo competition.

The Team, that consists of students from the Unit at CBA and students from The Bee Hive in Northampton, were required to deisgn a company logo, which was innovative, impactful and communicated ideas about the company’s product or service.

The team decided to keep the essence of the original logo as the name and design has been established for six years but refresh it to reflect the new company members and involve all team members in the creation of it.

Link teacher of the programme, Nikki Clark said ‘The team started from scratch and worked together to identify their own and other members’ strengths and used these to create the design all by hand. The students worked in pairs to create the new logo by printing two of the team members’ hands in our company colours green and purple and thumb printing in yellow for the new addition of our bees. The artwork for the faces on the hands and details for the bees were completed by four different team members. Finally the text was added by hand. The bees represented the new venture with The Bee Hive and make a happy addition.’

The design meant that the team were shortlisted to the top 10 entries, which were judged by Dermot de Courcy Robinson, Managing Director at Maxx Designs who said: ‘A very happy logo! Great use of cartoon style faces on the hands, giving them personality. Even the bees look happy! The 'happy hands' type could have been a little larger in relation to the hand graphics and the right hand colour is a touch dark for the face to work as well as the left hand one.  Great job!’

The local YE Area Manager, Robin Neighbour will now present the team with their certificate at the County Final on Thursday 26th April at Wicksteed Park.

Well done to all the students involved.
