Ugandan Library Shelves Filling Up Quickly

The money is coming in fast in our Fill A Shelf Appeal.

Our Librarian Amy McKay and two Sixth Form students, Chrissie Moore and Sophie Allen, are travelling to our international education link in Uganda next month and have set students and staff the challenge to raise funds to buy books to fill their sparse library shelves.

The first week of in-house library fundraising raised £188 and an incredible £700 was also raised at a race night.

Amy said: "We wanted to take £4,000 with us, so we are almost a quarter of the way there.

"As always everybody has been so generous and we are really grateful.

"These books will make a huge difference to the Ugandan students and really help enhance their learning and improve their future."

All students have been tasked with coming up with fundraising ideas and there is an ongoing inter form competition.

Cash donations are also welcome and can be made direct to Amy.

The October visit to the Discovery Centre will be the third made by a CBA cohort. The students will attend a sixth form conference during their week-long stay and there will also be an opportunity to visit nearby villages and communities.
