New Head Boy and Head Girl

A New Head Boy and Head Girl have been appointed along with a new Senior Student Team.

Fraser Gillan and Shona McKinnon have taken on the prestigious roles this week after shining through at an interview stage with Acting Principal John Henrys and Head of Sixth Form Avril Bartley Smith.

Fraser, who is studying A level Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Public Services and has ambitions to become an RAF Pilot, said: "I am really proud to have been appointed Head Boy and I will be concentrating on creating a strong Sixth Form with lots of working together between Years 12 and 13."

Shona wants to become a role model for younger students. She said: "I want to show the younger students that it's cool to do well at school and that you can achieve anything that you set your mind  to."

This year CBA will also be establishing a Senior Student Team who will be responsible for chairing the various sub committees in the Student Senate.

There first role will be coordinating the Academy wide Children in Need effort.

The team will be made up of Charlotte Bean and David Graham (who are also Deputy Head Boy and Head Girl) and Morium Akter and Catherine Grant.

Mrs Bartley Smith said: "These students will be the face of CBA. It was a difficult decision as we had some strong contenders but we are certain that Shona and Fraser will do a great job.

"The new Senior Student Team is also an exciting development and will incorporate new students as the year progresses."

One of the new Head Boy and Girl's first official duties will be welcoming Year 11 students to the Sixth Form Open Evening being held at CBA on Tuesday, November 29th.

The event takes place from 5pm to 7pm and will be an opportunity for students and their families to visit CBA and find out more about the academic opportunities available.
