Year 11 Student Trains For Youth Leader Role

Student Michael Forde is training to become a Youth Leader.

The Year 11 student, who wants to go on to teach, recently completed a two-day residential course run by the National Association of Youth Clubs.

Michael joined a group of his peers aged between 15 and 17 on the Emerging Leaders training programme which took place at the Pioneer Centre in Shropshire.

He took part in training sessions on youth work skills, group work skills, leadership and policies and procedures as well as a number of team building outdoor activities such as climbing, caving and abseiling.

Michael, who wants to become a cookery teacher, said: “I have always known that I want to work with young people as a career so it was great to go on the course and acquire some new skills.”

The student is a member of the Rushden Full Gospel Church where he is a trainee youth leader.

He currently helps out with running the youth club sessions.
