It’s Magic

The Key Stage 4 assembly on January 16th had a special dimension, as magician Chris Congreave entertained students.

Teacher Andy Duncan saw his £10 turned into a 50 rupee and the magician performed a card trick with student Aaron Baker that was met with enthusiastic applause.

The magician came along to showcase some of the illusions our Year 10 students could be learning in the new Session 4 club, which is starting soon.

Mr Congreave will be running the club until the end of the Academic year and students are being invited to apply for a place as soon as possible.

There are only ten places available and Librarian Amy McKay will be selecting the lucky students based on a number of criteria.

Miss McKay said: “There was a great response from students to Chris’s tricks and we have had a number of interested students come forward already.”

The magician said: “The students who take part in the club will have to be committed and I will expect them to do some practice at home.

“They will learn some basic tricks but there will also be a performance element, so the students will gain confidence in performing in front of a group of strangers.”

Students can expect to learn some beginner level card and rope tricks.

They will be showing what they have learnt by performing during the reception at this year’s Summer Show.

The club will run on either a Monday or Tuesday during Session 4 and to register an interest, students should contact Miss McKay.
