Chess Championship Underway

Students have begun the annual battle to be crowned CBA Chess Champ.

Can anyone beat Year 8 student Owen Robinson, who as well as being the reigning chess master is also ranked as the top player of his age in the county?

28 students took to the chess board last week in the first round of a swiss-system tournament.

They will compete against several rounds, and the winner will be the player with the highest number of points.

Librarian Amy McKay who organises the competition said: “We have had a great interest and have students from Years 7- 11 involved.”
