Staff cross the finish line for Uganda

English teacher Louise Cory and higher learning teaching assistant Juanita Robertson took part in a 10k run over the Easter Break to raise funds for this year’s Uganda trip.

The sporty pair lined up with hundreds of others for the Leicester Big 10k at Abbey Park on April 1st.

After putting in weeks of training they Miss Robertson completed the run in 70 minutes and Mrs Cory finished six minutes later.

Altogether they have raised just under £100 for October’s Uganda visit.

Miss Robertson said: “It was my first 10k run but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It has given me the courage to apply for the Birmingham half marathon in October this year, as I have set myself the goal to run a full marathon before I turn 40 next year.”

Teacher Kim Isaksen, Sixth Form student Klaudia Chalubinska and Year 11 student Ellie Mae Moore are currently raising funds for the annual visit to our international link school The Discover Centre.
