Year 11 students Ellie-Mae Moore and Amber Garrett have organised an over 18s Disco to raise funds for this year’s trip to Uganda.

The enterprising students have shown great business skills in organising the event which will take place at the Grampian Club in Oakley Road, Corby, on Friday June 1st from 7pm.

They have managed to secure the venue, decorations and a DJ for free, so that all funds will go towards the trip to the Discovery Centre in Uganda.

In total the Uganda team need to raise £3000 to pay for the trip. So far they have fundraised a total of £1600 by organising various events such as a race night and raffles.

Any money raised over the £3000 total will go towards paying for new books for the library at the Discovery Centre which was set up by last year’s visiting team.

Ellie-Mae said: “We decided to hold an over 18s disco as we thought it was something different and we want to encourage as many teachers as possible to come along.

“It’s a fancy dress theme with costumes from the 70s, 80s and 90s. It will be a great night."

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought from teacher Kim Isaksen or on the door on the night. Food will also be available on the night.
