Tough military training scheme returns

Staff and students can sign up to be put through their paces as part of the Elite Company military training scheme.

Staff and students can sign up to be put through their paces as part of the Elite Company military training scheme.

Vice Principal Tony Segalini is running the sessions on Thursdays from next week.

The sessions take place on the school field and include a range of tough military style training.

Mr Segalini previously ran the intensive boot camp style course earlier in the year and more than 20 staff and students took part. This will be the third time the scheme has been run.

Mr Segalini said: “It is to encourage participants to work on their own fitness. The activities will include gym tests, distance running, stretcher runs and weight carrying stamina exercises.”

Anyone who wants to take part should meet outside main reception for the first session on Thursday next week (September 13) at 4pm.

Sessions will run from 4pm to 6pm and the scheme will run for eight weeks in all weathers.

Staff and students who want to take part are being asked to bring their PE kit and a sense of humour with them.

It is open to school staff, sixth form students and Key Stage Four students.
