Looking for Budding Gardeners

The first sod has been dug to mark the start of the CBA garden and now green fingered staff, students and parents are needed to help bring the project to life.

When completed, the garden – which is behind the PNS faculty – will include a central pond, an orchard, a rockery, a vegetable plot and a flower garden.

The garden committee is looking for eager volunteers to get involved so whether a novice or an experienced gardener your help is required.

The first Saturday of work took place on April 4 and a team of helpers dug the foundations for the organic section of the garden as well as planted seeds.

Senior Science Technician Leen van den Berg, who is a member of the committee along with Elaine Ponton, Kirsty Farrar and Neil Price, said: “We want as many students as possible to get involved with the garden as it will be something that grows with the Academy.”

Those students who take up a trowel and spade will learn how to grow fruit and vegetables and will be involved in the selection of plants and flowers.

To find out more about the project or put your name down to be a volunteer, visit Leen in his prep room in PNS.
