Our Young Leaders from Unit are well on their way to achieving their silver certificate after officiating at the Northamptonshire Winter School Games.

The students already have their bronze Young Leaders certificate and are building up the hours they need for silver.

This week they have been refereeing, scoring and assisting competitors from primary and secondary schools at the Games.

Young Leader Hagen Rawson said: “It was a lot of hard work and we were really busy. I enjoyed helping the students.”

Anthony McGavigan refereed the boccia competition.

He said:  “I was a referee and that made me very happy.

“I felt so important and I had a great day.”

Oliver Farmer was also a referee and helped to keep the score for boccia.

He said: “I enjoyed the day because I liked helping the students and I got on well with them.

“I did some measuring during the event to see which ball was closest to the Jack.”

Fellow Young Leader Samantha Gibson added: “It was a lot of fun and it’s something I’m considering doing again.”
