Entrepreneuring students will take part in a prestigious competition which will test their business skills.

A group of Year 9 students has been entered into The Business of Life Challenge which is sponsored by Young Enterprise and the Federation of Small Businesses.

On Friday they will travel to Kings Park Conference Centre in Northampton for the first stage of the competition which will involve them coming up with a business pitch that will be judged by members of the Federation of Small Businesses.

Young Enterprise Link Teacher Alex Allan said: “A number of our gifted and talented students were invited to take part in the project.

“It will give them the chance to explore their entrepreneurial skills as early as Year 9 by learning through doing.

“This project will help to prepare them for their Business GCSE and working life.”

The students have been told they will work in teams of four to five on a series of enterprise challenges and will have to come up with a company name and logo.

The competition will also feature a series of sessions with an entrepreneur which will cover a variety of topics, including creative thinking, customer research, market research, product design, costing, pricing, brochures and websites.

The final will be held at Leicester Racecourse on Wednesday 9th July.
