Performers will appear in UK's largest youth drama festival

Actors and actresses from our Academy will take part in the UK’s largest youth drama festival.

Actors and actresses from our Academy will take part in the UK’s largest youth drama festival.

A cast of 35 CBA students will perform Macbeth at The Deco theatre in Northampton as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival.

The cast will be made up of students who are currently in Years 7 and 8 who will be picked this term.

English Teacher Rebecca Horridge said: “This is the first time we have taken part in this festival. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students to perform on a working stage in a professional theatre in front of a paying audience.

“Hopefully, they will get a real sense of pride and gain confidence from being a part of the performance.

“Even if students are unsure about drama I would urge them to come forward if they’re interested because this is a good way for them to find out if it’s for them.

“It should be a lot of fun and students will have the chance to make new friends.”

Our Academy has chosen to perform Macbeth because our students study Macbeth in Year 8 and students will have the opportunity to study it as a GCSE text.

Miss Horridge will speak to students about the festival during assemblies this week.

She will give out a monologue to students so they can prepare it for the auditions for the show.

The performance will take place on November 14th 2014.
