CANCELLED - Historical Tour to the Netherlands - K Farrar/ S Stacey

Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Historical Tour to the Netherlands - 12th February - 14th February 2012

We are delighted to announce a history trip to the Netherlands over February half term to Year 8 and 9 students. The trip will include a visit to The Anne Frank house on Prinsengracht canal in Amsterdam, a museum dedicated to the Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. Students will be able to see where Anne Frank and her family hid from Nazi persecution in the secret rooms during the German occupation in World War II.

In addition, we have planned for students to visit the Portuguese Synagogue, a half day walking tour of Amsterdam, 10 pin bowling and a canal cruise.

Students will stay in the Apple Inn, a 2* traditional historic hotel situated in the museum area of Amsterdam where they will be expected to share multi-bedded rooms.  Students will enjoy breakfast at the hotel and lunchtime/evening meals will be eaten at a variety of restaurants including the Hard Rock Café, the Pancake Bakery and a local restaurant.

In terms of travel, we have arranged for coach travel to and from the Academy to Birmingham airport, with airport coach transfers to and from the Apple Inn. We have also included travel insurance for the entire group of students travelling with us.

The total cost of the trip, including all meals, excursions, flights, coach transfers, services of trained guides and travel insurance totals £420.  Students will need to bring spending money for meals on route (to, at and from the airport), souvenirs, ice creams and sweets etc.
