Dear Parent/Carer,

The Science teachers are delighted to give the whole Year 8 group the chance to go to the Leicester National Space Centre on Tuesday 3^rd July 2012. This trip will help students gain a thorough understanding of the Science curriculum and allow them to get a hands on approach to the subject material.

Part of the Year 8 and Year 9 Science curriculum focuses on forces, gravity and space. This year students have been learning about the forces that act on airplanes, trains and automobiles and next year they will be learning about gravity and the planets.

The National Space Centre gives the students the opportunity to journey through 6 hands-on galleries and the chance to sit back in awe in the U.K's largest planetarium. There are over 150 interactive experiences for the students to take part in and they can even journey up the 42m high Rocket Tower.

In order to have the fullest experience at the National Space Centre the students and the Science staff will be leaving from the school at 8:40AM. We will be transported by double-decker coach buses and have arranged to be back at the school by 3:30PM in order for the students to catch the bus home. The total cost for the trip (which includes transportation, entry to the Space Centre and parking) is £13.00 per student.  This may be paid by cash or cheque (made payable to Corby Business Academy). Money for the trip is due into Student Reception by Friday 10th February 2012.

Students are advised to bring a packed lunch as there are no areas to buy a proper lunch. They may bring extra money if they wish to purchase something at one of the gift shops.
