October 2013 - French Trip 2014

October 2013

Dear Parent/Carer

Residential visit to France 2014

The Modern Languages department is planning a residential visit to France from Wednesday 16th to Sunday 20th   July 2014.

Following the success of last year’s trip, we will be staying at the Château du Baffy, a centre for educational visits owned by School Travel Services, a U.K. based Travel Company. The accommodation and food at the Château are of a very high standard. It is situated in beautiful grounds in the Normandy countryside, near Bayeux and the Normandy landing beaches. The purpose of the visit is to allow students to gain experience of French language, culture and history, thus enriching their learning at the academy. There will be several excursions during our 5-day visit, both educational and recreational.

We will be travelling by British coach and have the sole use of it during our stay, subject to international regulations on the driver’s hours. Students will be under the supervision of a member of staff at all times and will be expected to adhere to the CBA behaviour code.

The total cost of the trip will be £395.00. This includes travel, accommodation, entrance fees, full travel insurance and meals (except lunch on the outward journey and evening meal on the return journey.) Please be assured that we have tried to keep all costs to a minimum and that the trip is good value for money. Students will need some pocket money if they wish to purchase extra snacks and souvenirs.

If you would like to reserve a place for your child on the residential visit, please complete the form below and return to student reception by Friday 25th October 2013. Places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. A. deposit of £100 is required- via the academy ‘Wisepay’ system or by cheque payable to Corby Business Academy. This deposit is non-refundable unless the trip is cancelled or oversubscribed. More details of the payment schedule will be issued when your child’s place has been confirmed. The balance of £295 must be paid in full by the end of March 2014.

All students must have a valid passport in order to travel.

PLEASE FIND ATTACHED TERMS AND CONDITIONS

If you require any further details, please do not hesitate to contact me at the Academy, by ‘phone or email, kturney@corbybusinessacademy.org

Yours faithfully,

NON-REFUNDABLE PAYMENTS

Should a student withdraw from the trip or be unable to travel, monies received are non-refundable unless covered by the insurance, or there are students on the waiting list for the trip who are able to take the place.  Deposits, in this case, are still non-refundable as the Academy has to pay the administration charges for name changes to the Travel Company. In the event that a trip is cancelled by the Academy all monies will be refunded.

HEALTH FORM AND EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS

It is a pre-requisite for every trip that students provide a completed and signed form, containing details of any existing medical conditions plus details of any medication they are currently taking.  Twenty-four hour emergency contact details for students must be provided to the Academy prior to the trip.

Health and travel insurance is included in the price of the trip.  Full details can be made available on request.

FORCE MAJEURE

The Academy cannot accept liability, make any refunds, or pay any compensation where circumstances amounting to ‘force majeure’ prevent travel.  Circumstances mounting to ‘force majeure’ includes; any event which the tour company or Corby Business Academy could not, even with all due care, foresee or forestall, such as (by way of example not by way of limitations) war, threat of war, riot, civil unrest, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, acts of God, adverse weather conditions, and all similar events.  The final decision concerning the safety and viability of any trip rests with the Principal, who will, where possible consult with parents beforehand.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Any default in payment, unless previously agreed with the Finance Office, will result in the place being withdrawn.  Any monies already received will be non-refundable unless there are students on the waiting list for the trip who are able to take the place.  Deposits, in this case, are still non-refundable as the Academy has to pay administration charges for name changes to the Travel Company.
