RE: Discover Parliament (by invitation only)

September 2012

Dear Parent/Carer

RE: Discover Parliament

On Monday 24th September 2012 there will be a fantastic opportunity for ten students from year 12 to visit the Houses of Parliament for a free guided tour.  Aimed at students who are interested in law and/or politics, it is a chance to gain insight into how the Palace of Westminster operates.

Iain Mansfield, Assistant Director at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, has also kindly agreed to meet with the students. This will give them an opportunity to ask questions about involvement in politics and the role of a civil servant.

The trip will cost £13 per student, which is a heavily subsidised price. This is to cover the cost of transport to London by train as well as the London Underground. Students will need to bring a packed lunch. Students will need to make their way to and from school in the usual way: they will be transported to the train station by minibus at 08.45 and return back to school at 3.25 in time for the bus.

If your son/daughter wishes to take advantage of this opportunity, the attached reply slip needs to be returned no later than Friday 14th September.  A cheque for £13 made payable to Corby Business Academy should be included. As places are limited, a strict “first come first served” policy will be operated.

Yours faithfully
