Year 9 student Chloe Paul, 14, came 5th out of nearly 50 singers who were trying to secure a recording contract  with Negart Records by winning a public vote in its Sonic Star Talent competition.

Chloe said: “There were 48 singers who made it through to the final and I never thought I would do so well.

“When I found out the result I was shocked and just smiled at my Mum. I’m really proud of myself for doing so well.

“Although I’ve not won I’ve been invited to take part in a televised festival this Autumn. I'm waiting to hear more about that and I’m very excited about it.

“Now I’m on the lookout for more competitions to enter.”

Chloe will receive 10% of  the cost of the votes which were made for her which she will invest in her singing career.

Earlier this year she also appeared in the national final of Open Mic UK.
