Textiles students create professional looking t-shirts

Textiles students have created a professional-looking range of tie dye t-shirts.

Throughout this year, Year 8 students have been challenged to design and create their own tie dye tops as part of the To Dye For project.

They learned how to apply colour to their tops and had to manipulate their tops by, for example, trimming sleeves, creating scooped necks or embellishing the tops.

Textiles Teacher Abbie Parsons said: "The latest students to take on this project have taken inspiration from current and past trends to produce wonderful tie dye t-shirts.

“They have focussed on their own interests to produce personalised and individual t-shirts.

“I have enjoyed seeing their creativity through their designs and use of techniques. Some of the t-shirts have been of such a high quality they almost look shop bought.

“I particularly liked the work of Tamara Planinac who used her drawing skills to draw a design straight on to her t-shirt with fabric pens."
