Our GCSE Textiles students visited a major supplier of fabrics to help them get the perfect materials for their coursework.

Our GCSE Textiles students visited a major supplier of fabrics to help them get the perfect materials for their coursework.

The Year 11 students visited the Direct Fabric Warehouse in Leicester which supplies fabrics to a wide range of customers including business premises, theatre companies, restaurants and places of worship.

The visit was organized by CBA Textiles Teacher Abbie Parsons to ensure the students got the materials they needed for their controlled assessment projects.

She said: “The visit was a great experience for the students and they were very impressed with the range of colours and styles on offer.

“The staff talked to the students about their projects to make sure they got the right type of fabrics.

“The visit added to their understanding of fabrics and that is feeding into their coursework and will feed into their exams.

“It’s important that the students can show they have an understanding of different fabrics and what they can be used for.”

During their time in Leicester the students also visited Button Boutique to buy accessories for their pieces.

The students are making a range of products for their controlled assessments including a dog coat which is visible at night, a variety of dresses, sets of cushions and play mats.

The students have had to research and design their products and to achieve the top marks they must produce pieces that are creative and innovative.
