Our Academy is encouraging students to take part in an exciting national competition run by Young Enterprise.

This year CBA has joined Young Enterprise’s Tenner Challenge which gives students one month to set up a business and see how much money they can make from an investment of £10.

Business Studies Teacher Iain Morton (pictured) will launch the competition during Session 4 tomorrow (Wednesday 3rd February).

He said: “The students will set up small companies and will aim to see how much money they can make from an initial loan of £10 from Young Enterprise.

“They can use the money to start a business. At the most simple level they could buy something at a low cost and sell it for a profit.

“A lot of students have already spoken to me about taking part in the competition and I’m interested to see what business ideas they are going to come up with.

“It is open to all students and will give them a good opportunity to apply what they have learned in their studies or just to have a go at being an entrepreneur.

“It would particularly benefit Year 7 and 8 students because it would give them a taste of Business Studies as they start to think about picking their Options.”

The students must complete a log and there will be the opportunity to take part in weekly challenges to win prizes.

Throughout the competition weekly sessions will take place during Session 4.

Any profits which the students make will be invested in Session 4 activities.
