About 40 of our brightest young mathematicians have taken part in a complex challenge this morning.

The Year 7 and 8 students took part in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust’s Junior Maths Challlenge which is designed to test students' logical and critical thinking skills.

The one hour long test is sat under examination conditions.

CBA Mathematics Teacher Sevanti Panchal said: “The students have been preparing for the challenge by doing past papers for their homework and by taking part in our Session 4 class on Tuesdays.

‘The students have been very interested in the challenge and have been keen to test themselves with new types of questions.

“I have seen them improve throughout the time we have been preparing for the challenge so I hope they all do well.”

CBA Assistant Director of Mathematics Maxwell Sam added: “All our students seemed optimistic this morning so we hope they will have good outcomes.”

The results of the challenge are due to be published next month.
